Review summary

Most reviews describe Yapp as useful for events and conventions and generally praised for its usefulness and event-focused features. However, a large and recurring set of issues dominates user feedback: frequent Android bugs and crashes; broken or non-functional notifications (including settings being grayed out); navigation is hard with no or poor search, and recent updates can force reloads to the top. Content access problems are common—users report being unable to open, download, or upload content, or encountering blank screens. Overall sentiment is mixed with intermittent improvements but widespread stability problems.
Pros
  • Useful for events and programs
  • Enhances the event/convention experience with information sharing
  • Generally receives positive reception (good/excellent) from several users
  • Visually appealing design noted by some users
Cons
  • Frequent Android bugs and crashes
  • Notifications broken or not configurable (settings grayed out; updates disable features)
  • Poor navigation and lack of search; updates cause reloads to the top
  • Content access issues: cannot open, download, or upload content; blank screens
  • Not usable for some events or unreliable overall

I attend a rally each year and the hosts use this as the communication site for the event. It's a rather clunky app and I uninstall between events cuz who needs a clunky app taking up space. One thing that makes me crazy is that I get notifications for new posts or announcements and when I click on the notification I'm not brought to the post the notification is associated with. If I have the app open already it remains where it was (what I was looking at) If it's closed it might open the app, o

App is *fine*, in that when I need to use it it serves it's purpose, but navigation is extremely difficult. Any kind of update forces a reload to the top of the page. There's zero searchability. Trying to draw connections between seminars, follow individual presenters or attendees posts, etc, is impossible I can get notifications for *all* posts, but no way to fine tune it past "the channel firehose". I'd LOVE notifications for my actual *schedule*!

It's not bad! I have this app for a school program I am in. It's just that it's so hard to navigate through this app.
