User Reviews
Pros
- Removes black bars on ultrawide displays by stretching videos to fill the screen across many sites.
- UI is nicer and easier to use than some alternatives.
- Works across a broad range of sites (YouTube, VK, Disney+, etc.) and enables true fullscreen aspect ratios.
- Helpful for widescreen content (anime, etc.) and supports stretch mode for the best fit.
Cons
- Watermark in the free version, which many users find immersion-breaking or distracting.
- Subtitles do not display or are misaligned when stretched or in fullscreen on some streaming sites (Disney+, Apple TV+, etc.).
- Premium features are gated behind a paid subscription and may require a GitHub account, with little or no way to trial features before paying.
- Fullscreen/viewport issues on certain sites (some videos crop or appear as half-screen; Plex fullscreen problems).
- Hotkeys can be unreliable.

New update broke it for me., Installed new update stopped working completely, checked the preferences, still would not work, went back to previous version worked straight away.

Is UltraWideo Safe?
Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
UltraWideo requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.
