Twitch Lurker Firefox

Twitch Lurker

Always support your favorite streamer by automatically pulling up their stream when they go live.

Features & Capabilities

Twitch Lurker is a Chrome extension designed for avid Twitch followers who want to support their favorite streamers effortlessly. Once installed and connected via OAuth, users can mark streamers as favorites and prioritize them. When these streamers go live, Twitch Lurker automatically opens their streams in muted tabs, allowing users to lurk and earn channel points without manual intervention.

The extension ensures users can keep multiple live streams open simultaneously and manage their favorite list for prioritized viewing. Please note that for views to count towards the streamer’s viewer count, tabs with running Twitch players must already be opened, as newly opened tabs require manual interaction to be recognized. Twitch Lurker is open source, secure, and offers an easy way to support streamers while multitasking online.

User Reviews

Twitch Lurker automates lurking by auto-opening live streams from followed channels and presents a live-list UI. Users praise the core idea, ease of use, and support for streamers they follow (including drops). However, reviews repeatedly flag reliability issues: auto-refresh and live-list updates can stall or become stale, sometimes opening non-live streams; login/authentication can fail and privacy concerns are raised; and there are worries the project isn’t well maintained. Background playback is inconsistent. When it works, it’s a valuable time-saver, but reliability varies and maintenance appears uncertain.
Pros
  • Automatically opens streams for followed/favorite channels (auto-lurk), saving manual effort.
  • Helpful for catching streams you follow, including Twitch drops.
  • Clear UI that shows live streams and favorites.
  • Generally reliable and valuable for long-time users when it works.
  • Foreground opening works, offering convenient access to streams.
Cons
  • Auto-refresh and live-list updates are unreliable, often stalling or showing stale data and can open non-live streams.
  • Login/authorization problems (e.g., invalid CSRF token, authorization failures) and privacy concerns about sharing data.
  • Perceived lack of ongoing maintenance or updates.
  • Background playback/opening is inconsistent and may require foreground interaction.
  • Reported compatibility issues with other services like Kick.

So for a time, even after I enter a stream, and favorite the creator, I notice that Twitch don't count me as viewing the stream. I'm trying to use the extension to pickup some twitch drops. Despite that problem, I'm really happy with the extension, it keeps me always on for seeing some streamers that I really like, thank you!

This addon was wonderful until it stopped working. It no longer refreshes itself unless ive done a manual refresh every morning. then it actually works. I am not sure if there is a fix coming or if the dev has abandoned it but it is a really great extension i just wish it actually worked without the manual refresh.
