Twitch Lurker

Always support your favorite streamer by automatically pulling up their stream when they go live.

Twitch Lurker is a Chrome extension designed for avid Twitch followers who want to support their favorite streamers effortlessly. Once installed and connected via OAuth, users can mark streamers as favorites and prioritize them. When these streamers go live, Twitch Lurker automatically opens their streams in muted tabs, allowing users to lurk and earn channel points without manual intervention.

The extension ensures users can keep multiple live streams open simultaneously and manage their favorite list for prioritized viewing. Please note that for views to count towards the streamer’s viewer count, tabs with running Twitch players must already be opened, as newly opened tabs require manual interaction to be recognized. Twitch Lurker is open source, secure, and offers an easy way to support streamers while multitasking online.

User reviews

Twitch Lurker is appreciated for automatically opening and monitoring followed Twitch streams, aiding viewers especially interested in drops or supporting streamers. Users find the interface clean and the addon effective overall. However, it requires broad Twitch permissions raising privacy worries. Common issues include streams not auto-playing on open (requiring manual reload), lack of automatic live detection without interaction, and problems with background tab playback. Despite these drawbacks, its core functionality satisfies long-term users.
Pros
  • Helps users automatically open Twitch streams, useful for lurking and drops.
  • Supports following and opening favorite streamers' channels easily.
  • User interface is generally considered clean and functional.
  • Works well to support streamers by auto-opening streams.
  • Helpful for monitoring multiple streams simultaneously.
Cons
  • Requires Twitch login with extensive permissions, causing privacy concerns for some users.
  • Tabs do not always start playing streams automatically, requiring manual page refresh or reload.
  • Doesn't refresh or detect streamers going live automatically without user interaction.
  • Background tab opening sometimes fails to play streams, only foreground works reliably.
