Transparent Zen Firefox

Transparent Zen

Applies custom styles to make your favorite websites transparent.

Features & Capabilities

Transparent Zen makes websites transparent by applying simple, customizable styles that blend with the browser UI. The goal is to be as easy as possible for everyone to enable transparency, with a dynamic transparency feature added in version 0.2.0 that is still being refined.

The project provides Windows 11 and Linux setup instructions and prerequisites, detailing which settings to enable (such as browser.tabs.allow_transparent_browser and related options) and optional components like MicaForEveryone. A growing list of supported sites demonstrates current capabilities while the feature evolves.

User Reviews

Works great, BUT whenever the bottom left rectangle link thing shows up when hovering a link, it messes up all transparent pixels that shares the same horizontal position. In other words there is a big opaque rectangle on the background whenever I hover a link.

Works as intended, BUT Twitter and Primal (Nostr app at primal.net) are broken, please fix. Twitter - the black highlights are remaining clicked despite not being clicked anymore - I'm talking about "Notifications", "Home", "Explore", etc. Primal fails with that extension to display properly icons in the white color and not black on the right sidebar of its website, as well as displaying correctly verified checkmarks such as yellow-colored ones. Please fix, thanks. Amazing extension.

Is Transparent Zen Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Transparent Zen requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.
