Review summary

Users praise PeakVisor for accurate, fast peak labeling and helpful location-based exploration (labels, check-ins, summited peaks). However, recurring complaints center on pricing/subscription confusion and high costs, frequent Android crashes or app launches failures, and data accuracy gaps (mislabelled piste colors, missed peaks, map inaccuracy). Some users also note Android-specific reliability issues and feature gaps compared with other platforms. Overall, the app is valuable for peak identification but hampered by cost, reliability, and data/UX gaps.
Pros
  • Accurate and fast maps for identifying surrounding peaks.
  • Strong peak labeling and location-based exploration features (labels, check-in, summited peaks list).
  • Broad global coverage of peaks and elevation data with many data points to explore.
  • Fun and engaging tool for mountain enthusiasts and outdoor exploration.”
Cons
  • Pricing and subscription model seen as expensive or opaque, with free tier limited and post-update charges.
  • Android stability issues including frequent crashes and devices where the app won’t launch.
  • Data accuracy issues and inconsistencies (piste colors mislabelled, peaks not detected reliably, maps sometimes inaccurate).
  • Android/Platform parity concerns (reports of not working on Android devices or performance issues relative to iPhone).

I never rate apps but this experience was terrible. The ar view was always way off, and the peak labels weren't even accurate. And I only had access to the app for about 15 seconds before it locked me out saying free version is limited to one location a day, but I was always still in the same location trying to see the mountains around me. Nothing to make me confident the premium version would be worth the money. This app is less than useful. It's misinformation packaged with glitches.

Not worth the money for android. The interface is nice, but everything seems to not work properly. To be honest, if I really want to figure out what a peak is, I can open Google maps or earth for free. and also way more fun. The import feature is pretty buggy. Right now the axis for moving the ridges are actually swapped horizontal and vertical which is super annoying. The nail in the coffin is that you now need a subscription, I paid for this app... Its just a lazy waste of money.

Limited experience compared to iOS. Why is it not possible to pinch zoom in?

Il punteggio basso è dovuto solo alle piste da sci inaffidabili. Ad esempio la pista no. 9 Delle Rocce (Marilleva) è una pista blu e non rossa.

The maps are fast and accurate. But... Limited zoom out so hard to navigate across an area. No tilt ability, so no aerial or ground view, chosen fixed angle sucks. Once the zoom out limit is reached further zoom outs move the position (odd and annoying). The winter mode just changes the colour... It's just not enjoyable to use at all

awesome app to use toppgraphically to explore your area, or just find out the local mountains, hills, bluffs, etc. of your area. Personally, I use it to find the native American mounds in the area whereby I live in Central Kansas. Fun Fact: People always associate Kansas as the "flattest" state im the United States, but the accurate answer is actually Florida... And while there are NO true mountains in Kansas there are 154 natural points of elevation that are provided in the app. 5 stars!!!
