User Reviews
Pros
- Previously reliable and worked well for many users (used to be a go-to addon)
- Saves time and is convenient for reverse image lookup when it works
Cons
- Currently unreliable — many users report errors, "Oops, something went wrong," or that the extension never works
- Poor detection/results — users say it often finds nothing or cannot read images on many sites
Recent reviews
This extension doesn't seem to work aside from searching obviously old images, like memes. I've tried searching images posted by Reddit users, for example, and not a single one had search results - not even the original source if it was posted only to Reddit once. I encountered this with obviously reposted images as well.
I compared this behavior to another search tool that leverages multiple search engines and had positive results.

Is TinEye Reverse Image Search Safe?
Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
TinEye Reverse Image Search does not require any sensitive permissions.
