Encryption Tool Firefox

Encryption Tool

By: Ray
Encrypt and decrypt textual data using SHA-256 Hash algorithm

Features & Capabilities

Encryption Tool is a lightweight Chrome extension that encrypts and decrypts textual data and binary files using SHA-256. Add options to the right-click context menu to encrypt selected text to the clipboard, save encrypted data to synced storage, replace the original selection with encrypted content, or decrypt and copy/replace encrypted content. The extension works entirely offline to protect privacy.

Your passphrase is converted into a SHA-256-based private key while a random public key is used for operations; passphrases are never stored and cannot be recovered if forgotten. Common uses include securely sending passwords by email, archiving sensitive notes, and transferring secret data between devices. No data is sent to any server.

A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Encryption Tool requires very minimum permissions.
