Features & Capabilities

Looking for a Firefox volume booster for quiet videos, audiobooks, podcasts, music, or streams? TabGain combines a simple audio amplifier with independent tab volume control, so one quiet player can be louder without changing every other tab.

Some recordings are simply too quiet—even when Firefox is already at full volume. Open TabGain from the toolbar and give every tab in the current window its own clear, convenient sound control.

  • Set each tab independently from 0% to 600%.
  • See which tabs are playing audio, quiet, or muted.
  • Mute or unmute a tab with one click.
  • Reset any tab to its normal 100% level.
  • Keep a tab's selected level across reloads and closed-tab restores.
  • Use a built-in dynamics limiter that helps reduce harsh clipping while boosting.
  • Enjoy a lightweight interface that follows Firefox's light or dark theme.

TabGain has no accounts, analytics, telemetry, advertising, tracking, or network requests. It does not collect or transmit data. Tab information and media elements are processed locally in Firefox, and volume settings are stored only with Firefox's session API.

To control media on whichever tabs you choose—including audio or video embedded in frames—TabGain must find standard <audio> and <video> elements on webpages. It uses that access only for local volume control and never sends page or tab data anywhere.

TabGain works with standard webpage audio and video, including Audible and many common media players. Firefox system pages, its built-in PDF viewer, some DRM or non-CORS cross-origin media, and players that generate all sound through a custom Web Audio graph may remain at their native volume.

Audio above 100% can distort or become unexpectedly loud. Increase the level gradually and listen responsibly.

If TabGain makes quiet audio a little easier to hear, an honest review on AMO would mean a great deal. It helps other people discover the extension and helps me understand what to improve next.

TabGain is free, and every feature is available to everyone. If you would like to support future updates, you can leave an entirely optional tip at paypal.me/egotheist. Thank you for using TabGain!
