Features & Capabilities

Tab Wheel Scroll lets you navigate between browser tabs using your mouse wheel — no clicking on the tab bar required.

How to use

Hold Alt and scroll up/down to switch tabs
or hold the right mouse button and scroll up/down to switch tabs

Note: Your cursor must be positioned over the web page content (not over the tab bar itself). ✓ Also supports horizontal scroll wheels (e.g., Logitech MX Master 3).

Features

Cyclic tab switching: wraps around from the last tab to the first (configurable via the extension popup)

Where it does not work

For security reasons, browsers restrict extensions on certain pages. The scroll will skip:

Internal pages (e.g., settings)
Add-on Web Store pages
Search results (e.g., Google Search) unless you have explicitly allowed the extension to access these pages in your browser settings.

On these pages, the tab is simply skipped.

User Reviews

Convenient simple add-on for doing one thing. If you happen to need to scroll between tabs using your mouse, this seems to be a great option. I was hesitant to install it because it didn't have any reviews but I took my chances and I am glad I did. It does work! I messaged the author with some suggestions and he implemented them at once, I think that shows the level of commitment and I hope the extension will be maintained and improved over time!
