Tab Deque

This add-on is for you if you miss the behaviour of your computer's window manager/taskbar in your browser. It remembers the order tabs are opened and focused so when closing or minimizing a tab the previously active one gets the focus.

Tab Deque is a Chrome extension designed to improve your tab browsing experience by emulating the behavior of desktop window managers. Unlike typical tab switchers, it remembers the order in which tabs are opened and focused, using a deque structure. When you close or minimize a tab, Tab Deque automatically focuses the previously active tab, just like minimizing windows on your desktop.

Key features include moving tabs to the front or end of the deque, restoring tabs via keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl-Down to minimize, Ctrl-Up to restore), and background tab management making tab navigation intuitive and efficient. The extension respects your privacy by not collecting or sending any data.

Ideal for users who value precise tab control and want their browser tabs to behave like native windows, Tab Deque offers a familiar and fluid tab management system inspired by classic browsers like Opera 12 and desktop environments like Windows and Xfce.

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Tab Deque does not require any sensitive permissions.
