Substitoot is a Chrome extension designed to improve your Mastodon experience by fetching missing replies to boosted toots directly from their source servers. It ensures you see all replies—both local and remote—in real time without delays, providing a more complete conversation context.

Features include fully interactive remote posts, up-to-date boost and favorite counts, and accurate retrieval of the latest 20 posts on any user's profile. Compatible with Mastodon versions 4.0 and up, Substitoot also supports fetching from Akkoma, Pleroma, Misskey, and related instances. The extension emphasizes security by making direct HTTPS requests to origin servers without sharing additional personal data. To start, simply set your home Mastodon instance(s) in preferences and enjoy a richer social feed experience.

Love being able to see all the comments under a toot. The only thing I'd like to see improved is a configurable setting for colors for the little popup that shows when it's fetching, since sometimes that can clash with custom themes.
