In addition to speech recognition and translation in over 120 languages, communication with ChatGPT is now supported by OpenAI. All that is required for this is an API key, which is available from OpenAI. Choose the behavior of the AI ​​from 10 predefined roles, such as assistant, entertainer, researcher, etc. The size of the history and the number of tokens can be freely selected.

The app can be used for simple speech to text translation, as a translator for over 120 languages/regions and for communication with other users on the local network (WLAN and Bluetooth) and on the Internet. You can use a mobile phone/tablet to "call" up to 9 participants at the same time via the app with a picture. The data is transmitted in encrypted form so that your privacy is guaranteed at all times.

With the help of the assistant, setting up the app becomes child's play. With just a few entries/clicks, your smartphone is configured as a translator or for communication via WLAN or the Internet.

voice recognition

The language for the interface and operation of the app can be freely selected. The primary language is used for the app's speech recognition. With the optional secondary language, you can quickly switch between 2 languages ​​during speech recognition.

If neither the default language nor the second language have been selected in the settings (in the menu -- is displayed as the language code), the speech recognition tries to determine the language automatically and output it as text. The advantage here is that without changing anything in the settings, the conversation is possible in several languages. When the display is full, the app scrolls up the text at a speed that allows you to read along as you scroll.

The active language is shown on the display as a language code (DE, EN, FR, ES, etc.). Tapping toggles between default language and secondary language.

If the Google language packs are installed on the mobile phone/tablet, the voice recognition also works without the Internet. This is very helpful if you don't have internet on the go or are in rooms without WiFi.

language translator

The translator is switched on by activating the Translate foreign language function. If, for example, German is set as the standard language and English as the second language, the spoken text is shown in German and then the translation into English on the display.

When "telephoning" with different primary languages, each participant receives all texts in his primary language.

Example: You speak German "I'm fine". The text "I'm fine" will appear on your device. Your conversation partner (Tom) reads "I feel good" and replies "Me too", then the text "[Tom] Me too" appears on your mobile phone/tablet.

For the translation of the texts into other languages, the texts are sent to Google. Internet is required for this, either via router (WLAN) or mobile data (telephone).

Additional functions

The texts can optionally be logged, viewed, searched and exported to other apps (Google Drive, OneDrive, Memo, etc.). The "Dimming" function after a pause in speaking reduces power consumption and extends battery life.

For the hearing impaired

The app was specially optimized for this group of users and contains various functions that significantly improve the communication options for the hearing-impaired. These include e.g. the functions "vibrate on call", "flash light on call", "volume display", setting individual font size and background color. Optional are indications of the end of pauses in speaking.
