Sidebar Notepad Firefox

Sidebar Notepad

Displays a sidebar with editable notepad content saved to browser local storage and AES encrypted with a password.

Features & Capabilities

Sidebar Notepad is a Chrome extension that provides a convenient sidebar for editing and saving notes directly in your browser. Your notes are AES encrypted using a password you choose, ensuring that your sensitive information remains private and secure. The encrypted content is stored locally using the browser's local storage capabilities.

You can quickly open the notepad sidebar with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Z for effortless access. Note that your password is essential for decrypting your notes — if forgotten, the author cannot recover your content. The extension avoids storing your password or hash to enhance security, offering only a weak CRC as a hint when verifying password correctness.

Keep your notes safe and easily accessible with Sidebar Notepad, combining simplicity with strong encryption for your everyday note-taking needs.

User Reviews

The whole idea of a notepad is for those times when you can't find pen/paper but you have to write down a phone number quickly. This awful app insists on you fumbling around with passwords with is completely asinine.

1 star deducted for lack of instructions. To use this, example: try password 1234. The textbox should turn white to enter info. Enter your text and hit save. You can change password if you clear the entry, after using the same password to validate.
