About Us
The Birkholz bakery goes back to the Fricke pumpernickel bakery, which was founded in Gütersloh in 1858. Almost 85 years ago, Hugo Birkholz took over the company as a journeyman, which he handed over to his son Rudi Birkholz in 1968. Traditional recipes and the love for the old art of baking still determine our daily work today. Building on the long tradition, Rudi Birkholz developed the company into a modern, medium-sized branch in the Gütersloh area. The company has been run in the third generation since 1999 by Ralf and Petra Birkholz and Bettina Scheel. Our sales area includes the regions of Gütersloh, Lippstadt, Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Oelde, Harsewinkel, Greffen, Versmold and Warendorf. Today we have just over 300 employees and are there for you in 25 specialty stores, three schools and 6 snack bars.
We have our own recipes for our products and produce them using raw materials from the region.
Our range includes juicy breads that keep the dough fresh for a long time, a varied range of cakes and pastries as well as delicious sandwiches and great coffee specialties.
“Craft” is not just a buzzword, but the core of our daily work. We love baking! Machines are used wherever it is important to free the baker from heavy physical strain and one-sided work. Hand work is carried out wherever individuality and taste are involved. This ranges from breads with long dough to a wide range of snacks.
With our new app we want to make it even easier for you to enjoy at home.

In the app you will find a basic range with numerous taste experiences that are divided into different categories. From our delicious bread rolls to juicy breads that stay fresh for a long time, a varied range of snacks and delicious cakes and pastries, there is something for everyone. You can also find all relevant information about our products in the app here. This includes item descriptions, nutritional values ​​and allergens. This means that allergy sufferers no longer have to miss out on their enjoyment.

Through our app, you regularly receive coupons to save money, which can be redeemed directly in the app.


Customer card:
When you register, you will automatically receive a digital customer card. You can simply have your old customer card transferred to the app in one of our branches and then collect points with your smartphone, both in the app and in the stores. And with maximum transparency, because you can see every transaction in your profile. This makes the plastic card unnecessary.
