WaterAid - March for Water

Download the app and register. You simply connect the app to your health app and then you join in and count steps with us. You can see where you are in the leaderboard, how far you have walked, how far we have walked together, and if you register your steps together with your company or organization, you can also see the leaderboard for your company and your team.

Today, 703 million people lack access to clean water. In 7 out of 10 households that lack water, it is the task of girls and women to fetch water for the family, a task that often takes several hours each day.
Our goal during March is to collectively walk at least 703 million steps – one step for every person who lacks access to clean water.

The daily burden of carrying water means that women do not have time to work and earn an income and many girls are forced to drop out of school. This leads to a greater risk of being stuck in long-term poverty.

To highlight everyone's right to clean water, WaterAid carries out the March for Water campaign every year in March. During the March for Water, we draw attention to the consequences of the water crisis for girls and women worldwide.
