Baker's Game Solitaire

One rule sets this patience apart from every other eight-column game, and it is not a small one. On the tableau you build down in the same suit. Not alternating colours. The same suit.

That single constraint rewires everything. A red seven no longer welcomes a black six; it wants the six of its own suit, and there is exactly one of those in the deck. Long tidy runs become rare. The four cells stop being a convenience and become the whole game: four slots, one card each, and every one you fill is a slot you no longer have.

The deal
All fifty-two cards go face up in eight columns, seven cards in each of the first four and six in the rest. Nothing is hidden and nothing is drawn. Everything you need to solve the board is on screen from the first second, which means a loss is never bad luck. It is a plan that ran out of room.

Playing
- Build the tableau down in one suit
- Park any single card in one of the four cells
- Move an ordered same-suit run in a single gesture when you have the free cells and empty columns to justify it
- An empty column accepts any card, which is why clearing one is worth so much
- Foundations climb by suit, Ace through King
- Ten points for each card promoted, and five more each time you pull a card back out of a cell
