Sanitize It Firefox

Sanitize It

Remove tracking parameters from URLs and copy a clean link to your clipboard with one click.

Features & Capabilities

Sanitize It instantly removes tracking and referral junk from URLs with a single click. Share clean links again—no utm_*, no referral paths, no hash fragments.

Features

  • One-Click Sanitization: Strip query parameters, referral paths, and hash fragments from any URL (e.g. turn https://sanitizeit.xyz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=social into https://sanitizeit.xyz)
  • Smart Mode: Preserves essential parameters on known sites—YouTube video IDs, Google search queries, Kagi lenses, Amazon product pages, and more—while still stripping trackers. Enabled by default, toggleable in settings.
  • Settings Panel: Choose your default click behavior (Copy only or Copy + Refresh) and toggle smart mode on or off. Access via Manage Extension → Preferences, Alt+Click the icon, or Alt+Shift+S.
  • Automatic Clipboard Copy: Your sanitized URL is copied instantly, ready to paste anywhere. Shift+Click on Firefox inverts your default action (copy or copy + refresh).
  • Contextual Notifications: The toast tells you what happened—whether tracking was removed with essential params kept, the URL was fully sanitized, or it was already clean.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Alt+Shift+X (Option+Shift+X on Mac) to sanitize + copy. Alt+Shift+R (Option+Shift+R on Mac) to sanitize + copy + refresh. Alt+Shift+S (Option+Shift+S on Mac) to open settings.
  • Privacy Focused: No data collection, no analytics, and no permissions beyond what's required. Your settings are stored locally in your browser's extension storage.

Is Sanitize It Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Sanitize It requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
