SafeCast Firefox

SafeCast

Blur or redact your private info on any page while you record demos and tutorials, by word, auto-detection, images, or one click.

Features & Capabilities

Blur and redact sensitive information on your screen, live, before it ever reaches the recording.

Ever finished a tutorial or product demo and spotted your real email, a client's name, an API key or an account balance sitting right there in the video? Re-recording is painful. Blurring it in an editor is slow. And anything you already shared on a live call is gone.

SafeCast fixes this at the source. It hides your private data directly on the web page while you record a screencast or share your screen on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Loom, OBS or any other tool, so sensitive information never makes it into the video in the first place.

What SafeCast hides

  • Words you choose: your name, email, handle, company. Add "javi" once and it's blurred on every website, automatically.
  • Auto-detect: one-click toggles for emails, money amounts, phone numbers, credit card numbers, IP addresses and IBANs across the whole page.
  • Any element: click a sidebar, an avatar, a chart or a balance and SafeCast hides just that, remembered for that site.
  • All images: replace every photo or screenshot with a gray placeholder or a blur.
How it hides, your choice
  • Solid block redaction (pick the color)
  • Blur (pick the strength)
  • Symbols: mask with * • # while keeping the first and last character visible. Emails smartly keep common domains (you@gmail.com) and fully hide custom ones.
Built for recording and screen sharing
  • "Hide page until ready" blurs the page while it loads, then reveals it already redacted, so nothing sensitive ever flashes on screen.
  • A clear per-tab status: the toolbar icon is full color when SafeCast is protecting the page, gray when it's off.
  • Disable it on one site while it stays on everywhere else, or flip it globally with a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+H / Cmd+Shift+H).
100% private, local only

Everything runs locally in your browser. No account, no tracking, no analytics, no servers, no network requests. SafeCast never sees, stores or transmits the content you hide.

Perfect for course creators, YouTubers, SaaS founders recording product demos, support teams doing live walkthroughs, and anyone who screen shares or records and doesn't want to leak private information.

Stop editing secrets out in post. Blur and redact them before you hit record.

Is SafeCast Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

SafeCast requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

SafeCast is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
