Review summary

Users report Ruffle can run many Flash games and is easy to use, with some success on sites like Y8 and for Adobe Connect. However, reliability is a common issue: frequent errors and wasm load failures, occasional site incompatibilities, and installation/update problems. Android support is limited (no fullscreen), and a few sites don’t work well. Overall, it works for certain cases but is inconsistent and sometimes maintenance-related problems hinder use.
Pros
  • Runs Flash content on many sites (e.g., Y8) and lets you play childhood favorites.
  • Simple to use and easy to install.
  • Helpful for Adobe Connect and similar web conferencing tools.
  • Positive experiences from users who could access classic content (e.g., via Flashpoint recommendations).
Cons
  • Frequent runtime errors and wasm loading failures; not reliable on many pages or embedded content.
  • Android lacks a fullscreen option, reducing usability on mobile.
  • Installation and update problems, including corrupt add-ons and manifest errors.
  • Inconsistent site compatibility; some sites (e.g., 4399, Club Penguin Legacy) may not work or may hang.

2026-07-27 ha***** Seems to work, but defaults to being able to read your data from *all* websites which is poor security practice and makes it seem suspicious. Weirdly, if you take the effort to disable that permission, the Ruffle extension still works just fine, falling back properly to allowing you to choose to run it per site. Until the developers fix that security issue, I only recommend this extension to people who feel expert enough to turn off that permission. The steps to do so are: Click the puzzle piece icon on the toolbar, click the gear next to the Ruffle extension, choose "Manage Extension", select the "Permissions and data" tab, turn off the slider for "Access your data for all websites".
