Modify request and response headers. No ads, no malware.

Features & Capabilities

Request Inspector Lite puts a full-featured network monitor right inside your browser's toolbar popup - no need to open DevTools or switch tabs. Every request your browser makes is captured, displayed, and ready to inspect the moment you click the icon.

Why this instead of DevTools Network tab?

  • Always one click away - lives in your toolbar, opens instantly as a popup (or sidebar)
  • Zero setup - install and it works, no configuration required
  • Low overhead - built on the native webRequest API, not a DevTools panel
Core Features
  • Real-time request log - see XHR, Fetch, JS, CSS, images, fonts, WebSocket initiations, and more as they happen
  • Multi-tab monitoring - switch between tabs to inspect each one's traffic independently
  • Powerful filtering - filter by resource type, HTTP status (2xx / 3xx / 4xx / 5xx), method (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, etc.), and response size
  • Smart search - plain text or regex URL matching, toggled with a single click
  • Sortable columns - click any column header (status, method, size, timing, content type) to sort ascending/descending
  • Domain grouping - collapse and expand requests grouped by origin domain
  • Timing bars - visual latency indicators on every request row
  • Deduplication - optionally collapse identical repeated requests into a single entry with a count badge
  • Persistent log - optionally save the request log across browser restarts via storage.local
Developer-Friendly Tools
  • Copy as cURL - one click to copy a fully-formed curl command for any request, including headers and POST body
  • Copy URL / Headers - quick-access buttons on expanded request detail rows
  • HAR export - export the entire visible log as a standard HAR (HTTP Archive) JSON file for analysis in external tools
  • Request blocking - define regex or glob patterns to silently cancel matching requests; toggle individual rules on and off
  • 5xx notifications - get a native browser notification whenever a server error (5xx) is detected, throttled to avoid spam
Keyboard Shortcuts

/ = Focus the search bar

|//` = Toggle regex search mode

P = Pause / resume logging

C = Clear the request log

Esc = Close the popup

Appearance & Settings

  • System-matching theme - automatically switches between a dark OLED theme and a light theme based on your OS preference (prefers-color-scheme)
  • Settings dashboard - open from the gear icon to configure columns, display options, notification preferences, and the URL blocklist
  • My Extensions sidebar - the dashboard includes a sidebar listing all your installed extensions via the Management API, so you can review or disable add-ons without leaving the page
Privacy

All data stays on your machine. Request logs are stored in memory (or optionally in browser.storage.local for persistence). No data is ever sent to any external server. The extension requires <all_urls> host permission and webRequest/webRequestBlocking to intercept network traffic — this is the same privilege level as Firefox's built-in DevTools Network panel.

Requirements

  • Firefox 142+ (Manifest V3 with webRequestBlocking support)
  • Works on desktop; sidebar also available for wider inspection view

Is Request Inspector Lite Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Request Inspector Lite requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.
