User Reviews

Users note that the Firefox version of the 'Papers by ReadCube' extension is missing important functionalities available in the Chrome extension, especially the ability to save PDFs directly to the library rather than just the URL. This limitation reduces its usefulness for Firefox users.
Pros
Cons
  • The Firefox extension lacks crucial features present in the Chrome version.
  • It cannot save PDF files directly to the user's library from Firefox's built-in PDF viewer, only saving the URL instead.

Straight-up does not work when I try to import a PDF file I've opened in Firefox.

Same experience as user 15218768. This add-on (v6.2.0) creates massive loss of performance (major lags) on all Google-related pages in FireFox.
by Fi*****, 2025-11-14

This extension works well on research sites, but it causes serious performance issues on pages like Amazon and Google when used with Firefox on macOS in Low Power Mode. I ran Firefox Profiler and confirmed that the extension injects scripts that run heavy regular expressions in the background, blocking the main thread and causing tabs to freeze or load very slowly. Disabling the extension or exiting Low Power Mode fixes the issue. Until this is addressed, I recommend only enabling the extension for specific research sites.
