Review summary

Users praise Random Bookmark for being easy to use and reliable, with the ability to sample random bookmarks from specific folders. Many value its practical options and updates that restore features. However, recurring complaints include lack of Android/mobile support, UI changes after updates that confuse users, performance slowdowns with large bookmark lists due to instant syncing, inconsistent left-click vs folder restrictions, and occasional stability issues like Windows Explorer crashes.
Pros
  • Easy to use and manage; generally works as intended.
  • Allows sampling from specific folders for targeted random picks.
  • Reliable in delivering random bookmarks when needed.
  • Receives updates and bug fixes that restore features and improve stability.
Cons
  • Not supported on Android/mobile Firefox.
  • UI/UX changes after updates can be confusing when features move or settings change.
  • Performance issues with very large bookmark sets due to instant syncing; users may want an option to disable auto-sync.
  • Left-click can ignore folder restrictions and select from all bookmarks in some cases.
  • Occasional instability such as Windows Explorer crashes when the add-on is enabled.

2026-07-23 th***** Thank you for the lovely little extension which does 99% of what I want. Is there a way to request a random bookmark every time an empty new tab opens? Many thanks.

2024-12-15 Ja***** I absolutely love this add-on! :) Easy to use, easy to manage, and works perfectly. But... there is one small thing I have come across lately, which I do not know how to solve. Perhaps there is something in the settings I have missed. Currently I have quite a lot of bookmarks, around 56k. And every time I add one more while I am browsing online content, then I assume it is a background process that kicks in, which loads/syncs all bookmark information with this add-on data. And that immediately halts all browsing in FF as no other tabs, that are being opened at that exact time (it usually takes roughly one minute or bit more to complete), respond and loading hourglass is being shown till the moment add-on sync process ends. If there is or would be an option to disable instant bookmark sync as soon as new bookmark is added, that would be great.

2024-12-05 Da***** Hi Steven, this used to be working great until a few days ago. Right clicking the toolbar shortcut in Firefox no longer brings me your menu or allows me to go to the app's special options. I have no way of picking favorite lists. Clicking the button gives me an error message 90% of the time now. Reinstalling the app or clearing data doesn't help. Thanks for any insight. Edit: Thanks for the help. I don't know if I wasn't seeing it before, but those options are all back but in a different place. (Random bookmark options are in a help dropdown and lists are at the top)
