Review summary

Users appreciate the QR Code Reader for its ease of installation, straightforward drag-and-drop or right-click image scanning, and reliable QR code recognition without ads. However, multiple reviews mention confusion due to the extension opening results in separate tabs and lack of direct webcam scanning. The multi-step process for scanning browser images also causes some user inconvenience. Overall, it functions well for local image scanning but could improve user experience by simplifying workflows and UI.
Pros
  • Easy to install and use with drag and drop or right-click options.
  • Accurately reads QR codes from images saved or copied locally.
  • Works well out of the box without additional complicated steps.
  • Clean interface without ads or malicious elements.
  • Supports both local files and images from the web via context menu.
Cons
  • The extension opens scanned results in a separate tab that users have to close manually.
  • Not intuitive for users expecting direct webcam scanning capabilities, causing confusion.
  • Required steps to scan images from browser involve multiple actions (copy image, open extension, paste).
  • Lack of a pop-up window for scanning that closes automatically after use.

2025-01-22 Firefox user 18794360 just screenshot the QR code you need to scan on the page, crop and save as a JPG and drop onto the little addon window and you get the link shown.

2024-10-01 Patrice Cannot read image in a browser, always asking to read the webcam which I don't have.. You need to do a right click > Copy Image, then AGAIN a right click to launch that extension then a Ctrl+V to put an image from the clipboard from the browser, to paste it in the popup ..
2024-09-22 Roman Berezkin Love it, probably the most comfortable extension on the whole market. The only nuance is that the window opens in a separate tab, which I have to close after scanning. Is it possible to make it a pop-up that disappears automatically? That would be AMAZING!
