Proxy Router (SOCKS5 & HTTP) Firefox

Proxy Router (SOCKS5 & HTTP)

Route any domains using SOCKS5 proxies with ability to proxy any TAB.

Features & Capabilities

Proxy Router

Proxy Router provides granular control over browser network traffic. Instead of routing all traffic through a single system-wide proxy, users can configure specific routing paths based on the website being visited. This extension also works on Firefox for Android.

Features

  • HTTP & SOCKS Support: Save and manage multiple proxy servers—including both standard HTTP and SOCKS protocols—complete with custom names and authentication credentials.
  • Smart Routing Rules: Define custom rules using URL patterns to determine whether a site should be accessed directly or via a specific proxy server.
  • Fallback Defaults: Set a global baseline (Direct or a specific Proxy) for any traffic that does not match a custom rule.
  • Real-Time Status Indicator: A badge on the extension icon displays which proxy configuration is actively handling the current tab.
  • Local Traffic Bypass: An optional setting to automatically bypass proxies for local network addresses (localhost, LAN) to maintain local connectivity speeds.
  • Proxy Authentication: Built-in support for proxies requiring a username and password, handling credentials without recurring browser prompts.
Permissions Breakdown

To route traffic accurately and securely, Proxy Router utilizes the following browser permissions:

  • proxy – Required to programmatically modify the browser's proxy configurations and route traffic according to defined rules.
  • storage – Used to save proxy profiles, custom routing rules, and user preferences across browser sessions.
  • webRequest & webRequestBlocking – Allows the extension to monitor network requests in real-time and provide the necessary proxy credentials before connections are established.
  • webNavigation & tabs – Used to detect page navigation and tab changes, ensuring routing rules and status badges update immediately.
  • <all_urls> – Necessary to ensure routing rules evaluate and apply consistently across all visited domains.
