Plex Ambilight Firefox

Plex Ambilight

Adds ambient lighting effects around the Plex Web video player

Features & Capabilities

Plex Ambilight adds a real-time ambient glow around the video player on Plex Web (app.plex.tv), similar to Philips Ambilight TVs.

How it works: The extension samples colors from the edges of the currently playing video and projects them as a soft, blurred glow into the surrounding dark areas of the page. The effect automatically adapts to any aspect ratio (4:3, 16:9, ultrawide) and fills the entire viewport around the video.

Settings (click the toolbar icon):

  • Intensity — Controls glow visibility (10%-100%)
  • Spread — How far the glow extends from the video edge
  • Blur — How soft and diffused the glow appears

All settings apply in real-time. The glow automatically dims when the video is paused.

Works with self-hosted Plex server content (local media libraries, no DRM). Requires Plex Web at app.plex.tv.
