Playlist Wrangler

Your YouTube Watch Later is where good videos go to get lost. You save things meaning to come back, and weeks later it is a wall of hundreds or thousands of videos with no way to search it or sort it out. Playlist Wrangler is the organizer that fixes that. It turns any YouTube playlist into a fast, searchable, filterable library, and it helps you carve one giant list into clean, themed playlists you actually use. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Index a playlist once and all of it becomes findable. From there you can search it, filter it down, sort or shuffle it, play your results in order as a temporary playlist, or move a whole batch into a playlist of its own, without building anything by hand.

What you can do, practically:

• Your Watch Later is a thousand videos deep. Filter to all your workout music, select them, and move them into their own Workout playlist in one step.
• You saved five stand-up clips over the weekend. Filter to them, click play, and they run one after another as a temporary playlist. No manual playlist, no clicking between videos.
• It is late and you have twenty minutes. Filter your Watch Later to short videos and actually clear a few.
• Long drive ahead. Pull up every talk and podcast over an hour and play them back to back.
• Cooking dinner. Filter one channel down to its recipe videos and let them roll.
• Friends are over. Search your liked music for one mood, like lo-fi, Punjabi, or hip-hop, and let it play straight through like a station you built.
• You saved something weeks ago and forgot the title. Search across every playlist at once and find it in seconds.
• Curious what your library is actually made of. Export it to CSV, hand the file to any AI model, and get a read on the kinds of videos you keep, based on the tags, channels, and categories.
• A video looks promising but it is twenty minutes long. Ask it for a TL;DR or the key points first, then decide whether it is worth your time.

Turn one messy list into many clean ones:

• Filter to what belongs together, like every workout track or every cooking video, select the lot, and move them into their own playlist in a single step
• Do it a few times and a thousand-video dumping ground becomes a handful of playlists you actually open
• Every move has a one-tap undo

Play any slice as a playlist: Filter or search to the set you want, click any video, and Playlist Wrangler plays that one and the rest of your list in order as a temporary YouTube playlist, with autoplay and next working normally (up to 50 at a time). It is a play all for any part of your library, with no playlist to create or maintain.

Search and filter:

• Instant search across titles and channels
• Filter by category, channel, source playlist, length, language, age, view count, like count, captions, and your own tags
• Stack filters to narrow thousands of videos to exactly what you want
• Sort by recently added, upload date (newest or oldest), duration (longest or shortest), views, likes, or likes-per-view, or shuffle.

Bulk actions, with undo:

• Turn on select mode, tick as many videos as you like, and act on them all at once
• Add, remove, or move a whole batch between playlists in a single step
• Every action has a one-tap undo, so cleaning up a messy Watch Later is fast and safe

Smart, automatic categories:

• Every video is auto-sorted across several axes at once, with no manual tagging
• Topic (tech, gaming, news, comedy, and more), format (tutorial, review, reaction, podcast, trailer), and mood (study, sleep, workout, party)
• Music breaks down into over 70 genres, from house and lo-fi to reggaeton, afrobeats, and bhangra, with film and TV genres for screen content
• Language is detected across more than 30, including Hindi, Punjabi, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean
• Add your own tags on top for anything the categories miss, and they stick across re-indexing

Index as shallow or deep as you like:

• Quick index grabs the first 100 videos for a fast start
• Full index covers every video in the playlist
• Deep index visits each video for YouTube's own category, the uploader's keywords, the full description, and exact stats, which sharpens the categories even more
• Works on your Watch Later and Liked videos, on private and unlisted playlists you are signed in to, and on playlists with thousands of videos

Add to playlists from anywhere on YouTube:

• A quick-add button on thumbnails and the watch page lets you save a video to your default playlist with one click
• Or pick a different target from a short menu, without digging through YouTube's own dialog

Ask a video what it is about, before you watch (Beta):

• A Quick Ask button sits on every thumbnail and on the watch page, so you can get the gist of a video without opening it
• Pull a quick TL;DR, the key points, or a list of jump-to timestamps, answered right there in a small popover
• Perfect for triaging a deep Watch Later: see what a video actually covers, then decide to watch it now, save it for later, or skip it
• It runs on YouTube's own Ask, so there is no extra sign-in, no separate AI account, and no tab to open
• Rename the modes or write your own prompts on the Manage tab, so the questions match how you watch

Manage it all in one place:

• A sidebar shows every playlist you have indexed, with re-index controls and per-video tagging
• Browse one playlist, or search and filter across all of them at once, with duplicates merged into a single row that shows which playlists a video is in
• It keeps your indexed playlists in step with YouTube automatically
• Export (any filtered list) to CSV whenever you want your data somewhere else, before you lose videos past YouTube's 5,000 Watch Later cap.
• Signed into more than one YouTube account? It keeps each account's library separate and lets you switch between them by name and picture.

Private by design:

• No YouTube Data API, no OAuth, and no sign-in, so there are no quota limits and nothing to authorize
• Your playlists, tags, and metadata are stored locally on your device and never leave your browser
• The only thing collected is anonymous, content-free usage counts, so we can see which features people actually use

Built and improved fast: This version already does a lot, and there is much more planned. If something is missing or could be better, the feedback form built into the extension comes straight to me.
