Summary

In “For Rent: Haunted House," it's your job to rent out a haunted house before your tyrannical boss has you fired.

It's an interactive novel, where your choices determine how the story proceeds. For example, when your tenants, who haven't slept in days due to bone-chilling whispers emanating from the walls, ask to break their lease, do you:

A) Let them transfer their lease to another property? B) Allow them to break the lease, but keep their security deposit? C) Insist on sticking to the terms of the lease? D) Boldly investigate, like all the victims in bad horror films?

How will you screw over your tenants? Will you ignore inconvenient supernatural phenomena, or use them to drum up publicity? How will you deal with ghost hunters, squatters, and celebrity tenants? Will you emerge as the top agent? Stage an office coup? Or will you become a permanent resident of 57 Crowther Terrace?

(This game used to be called "Eerie Estate Agent," before we changed the name.)

Well It was a little different than usual, but I like it (it's not really clear at the begin that in this game is "good" to be a jackass as on How you should tackle the problem most of the choice are.. "peculiar" (You can actually be a good chump cornered in doing a really bad job, even if it's really subtle I liked how in the end it's show that you can choose if it's more important your work or your life (losing your job is not a bad ending if you play it right ;-)

Felt a smidge shoehorned. But it definitely had it's appeal. I would definitely recommend it to people that could appreciate this particular type of story. I know that the character didn't necessarily know about parapsychologists but you'd think after a particular incident that happens early on only a truly cold-hearted person would even think to just let tenants go there without admitting 'Yeah it's haunted'. Let alone move in. I would've tried to do something about it off the bat but I suppose you wouldn't have much of a story then. Basically another round of this is the character -- not you. So long as you can get past that. I definitely enjoy the game.

A quirky and unusual approach to the text-based genre! The plot has a few unexpected turns, the characters are amusing, and the change of pace from the standard adventures and drama was refreshing.
