User reviews
The WebP/Avif image converter extension is praised for its simplicity and effectiveness in converting images directly in-browser, saving users time and hassle. However, multiple reviews mention drawbacks such as the inability to remember the last save location, causing inefficient workflows, and frequent crashes, particularly with the Brave browser. Some users also note slow loading of the save dialog and a lack of automatic conversion features. Overall, while a useful tool for many, its stability and usability limitations detract from the experience for some users.
Pros
- Effectively converts WebP and Avif images, saving users time compared to using websites.
- Simple and easy to use, with right-click integration.
- Generally reliable and useful when working properly.
- Saves hassle by enabling image conversion directly within the browser.
- A favorite among frequent users for its convenience and time-saving capabilities.
Cons
- Does not remember the last used save location, always defaulting to the browser's downloads folder, which is inconvenient.
- Crashes or stops working especially in Brave browser, causing frustration.
- Sometimes very slow to load the "Save as" dialog after extended use.
- No automatic conversion without user prompts, requiring manual steps.
- Lack of updates or improvements over a long period, disappointing some users.

Works as it should.
Despite what I'm reading from others, it does prompt and allow you to save where you want. (Maybe it has been updated).
Thank you for this useful tool. Saves the hassle/time of having to convert on a website.

Today trying to save images and they are defaulting to webp. Why? That might be fine for web development but if you want to save an image, you probably want detail and resolution not a 20kb file. Had to try three different convertors. This one works as of 4/8/2025. Reason for 4 stars, it doesn't remember where you saved the last image, so now have an added step of putting them in the down load folder and then copying them to a specific folder.

Does the job but lacks the basic setting to not save to the default dl location as the default location.
WEBP is a cancer but the ability to have last saved location as the save location it defaults to is kinda the standard and kinda what we need...
As an aside anyone who uses webp intentionally should minecraft themselves, storage space is ever increasing, making/using a worse file format for space (in images especially) is the most hitlerian idea ever.
