The Lemon Report: Car Check

Know what that car is really worth, what it has already been recalled for, and what it will cost you to keep — before you sign anything.

The dealer, the service advisor and the warranty salesperson all know more about the vehicle in front of you than you do. The Lemon Report closes that gap with four free tools.

RECALL & PROBLEM FINDER
Look up any vehicle by VIN, or by year, make and model, and see open safety recalls, do-not-drive warnings and the complaints other owners have already filed. Built on publicly available NHTSA data.

VEHICLE VALUE CALCULATOR
Realistic trade-in, private-party and retail values for model years 2011 through 2026, across 53 makes and thousands of trims. Includes a deal check that tells you whether the price in front of you is fair before you negotiate.

REPAIR COST ESTIMATOR
See what common and major repairs typically cost for your year, make and model, so a shop quote is something you can judge instead of just accept.

VEHICLE DEPRECIATION CALCULATOR
Project what your vehicle will be worth over the next five years, with an optional loan overlay that shows when you stop owing more than the vehicle is worth.

EXTENDED WARRANTY EVALUATOR
Built into every tool. It weighs your vehicle's recall history, age and mileage and tells you plainly whether an extended service contract is worth buying for that vehicle, roughly what it should pay back, and whether the price you were quoted makes sense.
