RedReader is praised for being ad-free, lightweight and fast, with a simple open-source, highly customizable design. Many reviewers prefer it to the official Reddit app and note better battery life. However, a core issue across multiple reviews is unreliable login: the login flow often relies on an internal browser, and the on-screen keyboard can fail to appear, making authentication difficult. Other recurring concerns include saved comments not displaying and missing history. A few builds also introduce ad-related annoyances. This app would be perfectly wonderful for the Puritanical or under 18 year old user. But the lack of support for sexual content leaves me disappointed and confused? As an adult, I see little reason to disallow such content. So I'm going to uninstall the app and look for something more liberal minded.

missing two crucial ux features: view image/video while reading the comments(right now you have to navigate back to open it, then back to open the comments again). it also desperately needs a setting that automatically collapses comments by default. only the top level comments should be visible by default. I'd much rather open the few comment chains I'd want to read rather than having to collapse all of them just to scroll past garbage
