However, users consistently report the Android app as unstable and slow: frequent crashes and freezes, especially with recent updates or on older devices; unreliable streaming and playback, including long loading times, audio gaps between operas, and not maintaining playback when the screen sleeps or the app runs in background. Additional pain points include missing offline download support, no multiple-user profiles, subpar search and sorting, and inconsistent login behavior. Overall, content quality isn’t matched by the app’s reliability.

Pros

Excellent catalog of operas with high-quality video and audio.
Subtitles are well implemented, readable and easy to enable via CC.
Chromecast/TV casting works well and the app supports cross-device streaming.
Good value subscription with content becoming available soon after live streams.

Cons

Unstable Android app with frequent crashes and freezes, including on older devices.
Playback/streaming problems: long loading times, audio gaps, and stops when the screen sleeps or the app is backgrounded.
Missing offline downloads and lack of multiple user profiles (and basic playback controls like a 15-second skip).
Search and sorting issues; broken search results and missing sorting options.
Login persistence and overall UX regressions (persistent login prompts, etc.).

Recent reviews

Great content, shame about the app. The app frequently freezes, has long loading times, could do with a better filter & overall needs a refresh. Oh & it looks awful on a tablet. Love the content though! Edit: why all of a sudden does the 24 hour audio stream now stop between operas? It used to run continuously & there are no autoplay settings to change this. Also, now it stops playing when the screen goes off or if I use the sleep/wake cover on the tablet. Needs fixing.
