This series is fantastic, really immersive to read and possibly the most creative and unique plot line of the Choicescript games. The author isn't afraid to write about the unsavoury or unpleasant aspects of the story's world which adds to the stakes and gives the characters nuance. They also give the choice to skip tougher topics for those who have sensitivities but I believe they handle the darker themes well and are never gratuitous. Would highly recommend!

In this entry, I found the vice of the Attunement system alleviated for most of the book; since you aren't able to keep track over it, you can play without the rising and falling of the stat stressing you out. In terms of writing, Junko Uesugi is both exceptionally multifaceted and entirely internally consistent, and I was thoroughly impressed with the characterization in her interactions with the protagonist. Play the first three, play this one, avoid spoilers from the other reviews here.
