Review summary

Guns of Infinity is praised for its excellent writing, immersive historical fantasy setting, and high replayability. Players appreciate meaningful choices, character depth, and expanded content from its predecessor. However, common criticisms include a frustrating save system, unclear stat effects, challenging mission difficulty, and limitations in character choice. Despite minor issues, the game maintains a strong fanbase eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Pros
  • Exceptional writing quality and compelling, historically inspired storyline.
  • High replayability with multiple endings and meaningful choices.
  • Well-developed characters and detailed world-building that engage players deeply.
  • Seamless integration of gameplay elements, including stat management and battles.
  • Strong continuation and expansion from the first installment, maintaining core mechanics while adding new content.
Cons
  • Frustrating save system and unclear stat mechanics leading to unexpected failures.
  • Some missions are considered very difficult or unbalanced by players.
  • Limited character selection (e.g., inability to play as a woman) due to setting constraints.
  • Certain choices and relationships can feel like dead ends, reducing the illusion of meaningful choice.
  • Magic system sometimes feels redundant or underutilized.

This is a long but worthy read. The prose has the right amount of dry to its tone of historical fantasy and still gets to the meat of the story, political intrigue, in due time. I'd recommend to anyone who likes historical fantasy. Very wordy.

Absolutely spectacular read, the only interactive novel series I have highly recommended to friends and the only interactive novel I regularly check for updates on the third installments release. I only regret I can't play it for the first time once again.

One of my favorite choose your own adventure games. The writing is top notch and flows really well with the gameplay elements, and the balancing of stats for choices in the game is among the best I've seen.

Game was great, I've read this multiple times and each time, I get a different ending. I do recommend however, that you play Sabres of Infinity first so the story makes sense. And I just want everybody to know that the author IS making the third installment of the series.

This game and series is a breath of fresh air compared to many other text adventures I've played: with a good stat setup, a living and beathing world with incredible detail, and a creative magic system with only a few problems. Namely, imported characters (despite ideal performances) being inferior to pre-made ones. A thing likely to get worse as the series goes on for those continuing their Sabre characters beyond here but in the face of enaging gameplay and enthralling battles they are dwarfed

The story is great and very compelling, the only issues i have is the "Forlon Hope" mission and trying to save the "experimental corps or countess of welles." Now last year i had no problem with Forlon Hope but now i die every time i take the breach and i do it jointly with Cazarosta. As for the experimental corps, i tell them to fall back while i take the blunt but can't survive the attack and same goes for the countess of welles if i stay beside her i die but if i flank the enemy she dies.

Well written, exhilarating story. Really puts you at the forefront of great battles, and the protagonist's narration delves into the struggle of man. There are a good many well designed characters on both sides of this war, and that fact serves to really punch home the experiences of soldiers in warfare, in a period of history, that mirrors a great many of ours. Now stop making us wait for the third installment dammit

Wow this is how a sequel should be made it did a perfect job continuing the first game but made it longer and made it more exiting with more battles thiers also a romance option and thier are moral dilemmas which I love its worth ever penny and can't wait for the next one.

Exceptional quality. You cannot play as a woman, but that is completely justified due to the setting. Would definitely recommend - immense replayability, and the sequel is soon to come out.

Following in the same vein as the first installment, I cant help but feel like Guns is missing something. The stakes really dont seem as high in some parts (especially the final sequences). It's as if about halfway through the challenges become progressively easier. Also, certain relationships seem to be dead ends - little throwaway options placed there to create the illusion of choice. Overall, I found Guns to be satisfying in parts but it does not quite live up to Sabers for me.
