Kalulu

Kalulu is a Chrome extension that makes early French reading decoding easier by teaching grapheme–phoneme correspondences explicitly. Based on the Manulex corpus, Kalulu follows a rational sequence used in research-backed literacy instruction: start with vowels, then introduce consonants and highly regular graphemes (like “ch”), and progress to multi‑grapheme phonemes and rarer correspondences.

Designed for beginning first-grade learners and teachers, Kalulu emphasizes rapid mastery of the core 12–14 correspondences in the first six weeks. The extension provides structured lessons and practice activities grounded in decoding pedagogy so children build reliable phonics skills and teachers can deliver focused, evidence-based instruction.
