Review summary

Users appreciate the app's unique approach to teaching coding through role-play and realistic developer scenarios, making it a useful learning tool with strong tutorial content. However, many report serious issues including frequent crashes, UI scaling problems that hinder input and navigation, bugs in saving and loading progress, asset download failures, and repetitive gameplay loops. These technical and design flaws detract from the experience despite the app's innovative concept and educational value.
Pros
  • Unique and original concept that simulates real-life developer scenarios and IT experiences.
  • Effective learning tool for coding and tech basics with quizzes and role-playing elements.
  • Good for those interested in understanding developer life and tech stacks.
  • App is free and provides valuable educational content.
  • Video tutorials within the app are praised and considered helpful.
Cons
  • Frequent app crashes interrupt gameplay and cause loss of progress.
  • UI/UX issues such as screen ratio problems, buttons being off-screen or behind menu bars, and difficulty entering user input like name.
  • Gameplay can be repetitive and monotonous, limiting engagement.
  • Downloading game assets fails or is slow, preventing initialization of the app.
  • Saving and loading game features are buggy or non-functional, leading to lost progress.

I played a few starting chapters but the same loop of routine was tiring...It's really good to learn about developer life... but it would have been 10x more better if we could network with real people through the game... for those who cannot go to hackathons or not really confident in metworking... i think it could help a lot... also if you could show things more deep like showing what happens in a hackathon and how to network with others.

Love it. This is a very original take, im not developer per se (only tester) but the experience this game flashes is very true to the real life scenarios that can happen in IT. The only problem I encountered was the screen ratio not being to scale with my phone (quite ordinary Samsung model). Therefore things like listening to music for relax would soft-lock me, as also longer questions.

It's overall not that bad at all! Cons: The gameplay isn't that great. It gets repetitive. Pros: The learning side is nice. I liked the quizzes and role playing of situations you might actually encounter in real life.

The game is pretty neat. I really like the concept and enjoy playing. However, some of the clickable choices either extend past the screen space or get placed behind the menu bar on the bottom, making it difficult, if not impossible, to select. Also, the game crashes... a LOT. I'm lucky if I get through a couple story days before the app suddenly closes. So, even if I save every few minutes, I still end up having to repeat a lot of stuff. If those things get fixed, I'll give a much higher score.

At the question for what forum does freecodecamp use i cannot progress past the text explaining Discourse ln android. The button for next is below my screen in landscape and hitting skip or auto does nothing to progress me past this point.
