User Reviews

LibreOffice Viewer is praised for being open-source, offline, ad-free, fast, and capable of viewing many document types (ODS, DOCX). However, editing features are experimental and unreliable; spreadsheet support is limited (no multi-sheet view, partial display). It lacks search, can be unstable or slow with large files, and has a dated UI. Overall, strong as a viewing tool with privacy advantages, but needs editing polish and better stability.
Pros
  • Open-source (FOSS) with offline/local usage, no cloud reliance, and no mandatory sign-ups.
  • Ad-free, fast startup and lightweight — instant to open documents.
  • Supports many document formats (ODS, DOCX) and can handle Markdown via PanDoc.
  • Simple, clean UI that's easy to use and avoids AI clutter.
  • Useful as a portable mobile viewer for reading and backup writing projects.
Cons
  • Editing features are experimental and sometimes unstable.
  • Spreadsheet viewing is limited: cannot view full sheets by default, misalignment issues, and no multi-sheet support.
  • No built-in search function; cannot search text within documents.
  • Stability and performance concerns, including freezing after switching, slow loading of large XLSX files, and occasional file-open failures.
  • UI looks outdated.

I find it wild that they're not porting their full suite of products when tablets have become so versatile for productivity.

Experimental mode is still very experimental! Text doesn't appear or delete unless I double tap to zoom in or out, and UI just feels buggy. I love LibreOffice on desktop, but until this app is improved, I guess I'll be stuck with Google Docs on mobile. Hope this improves in the future.

please bring the whole editor experience of desktop to mobile asap. libre is my default office suite now. Mobile version will impact massively on users engagement and ease of use.
