User reviews

I'm the creator of Omelette, and I'm going to have to shamelessly give it a 5-Star review for the simple fact that my French reading comprehension has skyrocketed since I started using/building it. As the kiddos say, this is "No Cap" (no exaggeration)! Prior to Omelette, I used to struggle reading in French for two reasons 1. The process of looking up (and saving) new words while reading is very inefficient and distracting and 2. It's hard to find interesting things to read when studying a new language. Prior to Omelette, I'd have to constantly stop reading to copy and paste new words into separate tabs for Google Translate & WordReference (two awesome tools that, when used in tandem, can give you powerful insight into the meaning of a word, phrase or sentence). Switching back-and-forth between tabs would cause me to lose the spot where I was reading and greatly slow me down. Needless to say, it was a pain. Other web extensions out there didn't solve the problem for me. Some make it easy to do a quick lookup of a word, but don't allow you to easily cross reference between different dictionary sources (which is really important when trying to figure out what a word means in its actual context ...). Having Google Translate and WordReference in one popup window is a game-changer that Omelette brings (we might eventually add more dictionary and translation resources if users want). Lastly, before Omelette, I found it super difficult to find interesting content to read. I always wanted there to be an "Apple News for language learners" ... a simple newsfeed showing interesting and culturally relevant articles in the language I'm learning (magazines, blogs, news, science, sports, business, culture, etc.) ... Omelette's newsfeed is so easy to open, quickly glance through and discover something interesting to read. Reading is IMPORTANT. While watching videos in a foreign language is super important/effective (and there are great extensions out there for that), reading comprehension is a paramount skill that can uniquely enable you to be a master of language and culture. I'm going to keep improving Omelette so that it can have an even more profound impact on language learners all over the world. More languages to come, more refinements to come, and always my commitment to helping language learners achieve their goals. My goal is to impact 1 Million language learners world-wide through Omelette by June 2024. I implore you to give Omelette a shot, and if there's something that you don't understand, don't like or want updated, reach out to me at [email protected] & I'll make sure to address your concern. Humbly, Amanuel

This is a great tool! So helpful as I work on learning Italian. I like that it’s really built to facilitate learning in a quick and convenient way: just right-click instead of going back and forth to a different tab like I was before. Convenience is so important when learning a new language, especially if you already find it daunting. This extension makes it that much easier to stick with it.
