Silence Time

Silence Time is a focused meditation timer and commitment tracker for Android.

The session ends with a single soft gong — you never have to reach for the phone to stop a ringing alarm. You stay seated in stillness, the way the practice is meant to end.

KEY FEATURES

• Quick-pick presets: tap a duration (1, 15, 40, or 60 min by default), tap Start, lock the phone.
• Single soft gong at session end. No stop button. No notification action. The gong plays through the alarm channel so it works even when your phone is on silent or in Do Not Disturb.
• 6 bundled gong sounds — Tibetan bowls, wooden mokugyo, more. Preview each one before choosing.
• Custom session durations: edit the presets, or build sequence timers with multiple gong-separated steps.
• Multi-day commitments: commit to N days of practice, with X sessions per day or Y minutes per day. The app tracks your streak.
• Two completion modes: "minimum time per session" (each session must be at least N minutes) or "overall time per day" (one long session can count).
• Multiple commitments at once. Auto-attribution — any session you start while a commitment is active counts toward it.
• Streak math that survives DST and timezone changes — verified by an automated test matrix.
• Daily reminder notifications for each commitment. Survive device reboot.
• 4 dark themes (soft dark, soft dark cool, turquoise dark, soft pink dark) — all WCAG AA contrast verified.
• Reliable when it counts: the gong fires even with the screen off, in Doze, with the app force-stopped before the session ends. Built on Android's native AlarmManager, not on a foreground service that the OS can kill.

WHAT THIS APP IS NOT

• Not a social app — no feed, no friends, no leaderboard.
• Not a content app — no guided meditations, no music, no audio courses.
• Not a data collector — Silence Time has no INTERNET permission. Everything stays on your device.
• Not freemium — no in-app purchases. All gongs and features are free.

PERMISSIONS

Silence Time requests notification, exact alarm, boot-completed, foreground service, and wake-lock permissions. These are required for the gong to fire on time when the screen is off, for daily reminders to survive a reboot, and for in-app gong previews. The app does NOT request internet, location, contacts, microphone, or camera permissions.

PRIVACY
