Review summary

OldLander For Old Reddit is highly praised for revitalizing the Reddit mobile experience by restoring the classic old.reddit.com interface that many users prefer over Reddit's newer versions and apps. It is efficient, reliable, and actively maintained with responsive developers, making Reddit usable and enjoyable on mobile again. However, multiple users report issues such as inconsistent vote recording, oversized or undersized icons with limited customization, slower load times, and missing subscribed subreddits in feeds. Despite these drawbacks, the add-on remains a crucial tool for users seeking a better Reddit mobile browsing experience.
Pros
  • Significantly improves the Reddit mobile browsing experience, making it smoother and more user-friendly compared to the official app or default mobile site.
  • Restores usability to old.reddit.com which users prefer over Reddit's new interface and apps.
  • Actively maintained with timely updates and responsive developer support.
  • Lightweight and efficient, working with minimal fuss and improving productivity for users.
  • Open source and appreciated by the community for preserving a preferred Reddit experience.
Cons
  • Upvote/downvote functionality is inconsistent; some users report that votes are not recorded or the score defaults to zero, which can be confusing.
  • Icon sizing issues: buttons (like upvote/downvote, comments, save) are often disproportionately large or small, particularly on comments, and there's a lack of user-adjustable settings for button sizes.
  • Loading times are slower compared to native Reddit, which may affect users on slower devices.
  • Some subscribed subreddits do not appear in the sidebar or feed, limiting usability for certain users.
  • Missing customization options like sorting subreddit lists, icon position preferences, and additional themes make the experience less flexible.

2025-04-21 AO***** Makes mobile browsing of Reddit much smoother since they put a chokehold on the mobile app API. Would love to be able to sort the subreddit list, and maybe tweak the multi Reddit links. Not even sure how I got those two. Anyway, it's really freaking solid and I'm grateful to have it.
