OctoSSO Firefox

OctoSSO

By: ganta
OctoSSO is a browser extension to assist GitHub's single sign-on feature

Features & Capabilities

What's the problem?

Even if your session with the Identity Provider is valid, GitHub's single sign-on sessions expire frequently.

Once the session expires, you have to click on each organization's link to authenticate the IdP, and the more organizations that have SSO enabled, the more cumbersome it is.

How does this web extension solve the problem?

This web extension saves the pain by automatically clicking the Single sign-on link for each organization that prompts on the Top / Notifications / Profile page on GitHub and the Single sign-on page button beyond that.

This worked for me with Firefox Nightly 112. When navigating to https://github.com/notifications, the plugin automates the process of clicking each of the SAML sign-on links, so I can see activity across all the organizations I follow. I appreciate the source code is available, and it is focused on doing exactly one thing. Thanks ganta!

Is OctoSSO Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

OctoSSO requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.
