RNZ’s Android app provides strong live broadcasts, podcasts, and detailed news, with some users relying on it as their primary RNZ source. However, it suffers from stability and content-loading problems, Android Auto issues, notification relevance concerns, and several UX quirks (landscape mode, read-button navigation, duplicate Top News). When functioning well, users praise content quality and breadth; when not, they experience frequent interruptions and frustrating UI shortcomings.

Recent reviews

The live radio function cuts out frequently, it seems to be only when connected to WiFi (operates normally on mobile data). Fix that and you get 5 stars :)

Please fix the playback options, the only audio app I have where Bluetooth headphones cannot pause and play in a podcast. Also no means to increase playback speed as per standard podcast apps.
