Definer - Popup Dictionary & Translator is a Chrome extension that lets you get immediate definitions, translations, and search results when you select text on a web page. It fetches information from diverse sources in multiple languages and displays the results in a small pop-up bubble. Further, you can customize how the results are shown with an easy-to-use options app. The extension also comes with a packed-in PDF Reader to allow for definition search in PDFs.

Analyze keywords

Search the web without opening a new tab at the instant you select text on a page. Fetch definitions, translations, and examples from multiple sources in multiple languages at the same time. View results in a small pop-up bubble next to the selection area. Or search from extension's popup window by typing the query, instead of selecting it on a page.

Customizability is a priority, so in options app you can configure:

⚙️ Bubble activation

Configure how and when to trigger bubble to pop-up. Completely disable or enable bubble on certain pages by creating flexible URL rules. Extension icon will turn gray when the bubble is disabled on the active page.

⚙️ Sources

Results are being fetched from multiple sources simultaneously. There are 2 types of sources: content (text & images) and audio (pronunciation recordings or synthesis). Configure the order in which results from different sources are displayed or disable some sources completely.

Hervorragend, weitgehend so, wie es sein sollte: Sehr leicht zu aktivieren – die Auslöser lassen sich konfigurieren –, und man bekommt bei einzelnen Wörtern mehrere Bedeutungen angezeigt. Man kann direkt im Dialog aus mehreren Quellen wählen (darunter ist sinnigerweise auch eine Bildsuchmaschine). Man kann auch eine eigene Quelle konfigurieren, etwa, um weniger Daten an Google zu übermitteln. Hierfür bietet sich vor allem WordReference an, da es mit mehreren Sprachen umgehen kann.
