Litebox Chrome Extension

Litebox is a powerful Chrome extension designed for medical professionals needing quick and safe ways to share snippets of imaging studies like MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and Angiography. Instead of transferring entire imaging records, Litebox enables efficient recording of your desktop screen and creates a compressed video file. This local file can then be uploaded to patient records such as referapatient®.

Ideal for those without mobile PACS, Litebox facilitates data-compliant sharing by allowing users to capture critical screen content, including medical imaging and pathology reports, in a simple workflow. Installation is easy, with the Litebox icon appearing in the browser toolbar for straightforward recording control, making medical record sharing smarter and faster.

Recorded PACS viewer with this whilst scrolling through MRI. Saved the video and attached it to referral. Received a response from surgeon within 10 mins Patient now being planned for transfer. I’ll IEP the scan across now. Easy to install (took a few seconds). Gave 4/5 because refer-a-patient won’t allow file larger than 20 MB so had to keep recording under 2 mins. Please increase this limit!

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Litebox requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk impact analysis details
  • Critical Captures visible content, which may expose user data displayed on the screen, posing a security threat.
Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Chrome extension may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Chrome extension reputation on Chrome Web Store, the amount of time the Chrome extension has been around, and other signals about the Chrome extension. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Chrome extension.

Litebox may not be trust-worthy. Avoid installing if possible unless you really trust this publisher.
