User reviews repeatedly flag intrusive ads, unstable playback (freezes, buffering, crashes), and UX regressions (missing watchlists, broken 'continue watching', inconsistent navigation) across Android devices, including Android TV and Chromecast. Some users report occasional decent quality and a simple UI when the app works, but major reliability and UX issues dominate. Improvements in ad handling, playback stability, search/login reliability, and Android TV casting/navigation would significantly improve the experience.

Pros

Catch-up viewing (terugkijken) is convenient and not blocked by a paywall.
Live regional channels are available for viewing.
When it works, video quality is decent and the app feels straightforward and efficient.
Generally easy-to-use interface when the app is functioning.

Cons

Ads are intrusive and frequent, including startup ads and multiple ads per stream.
Playback reliability is poor with freezing, buffering, and crashes on various devices (Chromecast, Android TV, tablets/phones).
UX regressions and missing features: lists like 'Kijk verder' disappear, and the 'continue watching' flow is often broken or inconsistent.
Search and login flows are broken after updates (search stops working; login screen can be blank).
Android TV / Chromecast experience is especially problematic (cast issues and forced landscape).

The app is flaky AF. It is flaky when trying to view info. It shows either nothing or just seems to hang. NPO reinvented BSOD, but now in a navy/dark blue instead of a Windows blue version. The casting functionality is counterintuative. Overall, bad quality app.

op smart tv een waardeloze app. 1x pauzeren en programma start niet meer. Je moet dan hele app opnieuw opstarten en opnieuw reclames kijken om verder te kunnen kijken. Frustrerend.
