WoordKr8

About a quarter of students in Year 3 struggle with learning to read or are at risk for reading difficulties. By using WoordKr8 at support levels 2 and 3, you help these students progress and prevent further delays. They practice letter-sound relationships, words, sentences, and texts in an engaging learning environment.

Students start with simple words, followed by words of increasing complexity. First, monosyllabic words with double consonant clusters in one position (stap, mast), then in two positions (sport), and finally with multiple consonant clusters (strik, laat). Multisyllabic words and the basic rules (mute sounds, the rule of singulation, and the rule of doubling) are also addressed.

Students practice reading in various ways, at the word level and within sentences. Innovative techniques such as the Reading Acceleration Program (RAP) are integrated into the program. Students also frequently practice sounding out words and do exercises and games to increase their phonological-orthographic awareness.
