Nexus Mods Assistant

By: Alkeari Add-on
Tells you whether each Nexus mod works with the game build you are running, right on the mod list. Badges say what the verdict was based on, filters cut the list down, and you can queue downloads without opening forty tabs.

Features & Capabilities

Nexus Mods does not publish which game version a mod supports. There is no field for it, so working out whether a mod fits the build you are actually playing means opening it, reading what the author wrote, and checking the file list. Doing that forty times to plan a load order is where the evening goes.

Nexus Mods Assistant does it for you. Set the game build you are targeting, browse the mod list as normal, and every tile gets a verdict.

WHAT YOU SEE

A badge on each mod tile, showing the verdict and the version it found. Hover it and it tells you where that came from: a file version, a file name, a changelog entry, the mod description, or an upload date, and whether the match was exact or inferred. A guess is never dressed up as a match.

  • Compatible. A version the mod claims to support falls inside your target range.
  • Likely compatible. Weaker evidence points that way. Treat it as a lead, not a promise.
  • Incompatible. Versions were found and none of them overlapped your range.
  • No version info. The check ran and the mod says nothing that could be judged.
  • Couldn't check. The check could not run: bad key, rate limit, Nexus error, or offline.
  • Not set up. Nothing is configured yet, so nothing was attempted.
"No version info" and "Couldn't check" are deliberately not the same badge. Found nothing and could not look mean opposite things, so they never share a word.

FILTERING

A bar above the mod grid lets you show or hide tiles by verdict, exclude mods by keyword, filter by a last updated date range, page through the listing, and decide which file categories appear in a mod's file list. Your settings persist between sessions, and the bar collapses when you do not want it.

FILES AND DOWNLOADS

Every tile gets a Files button that opens that mod's file list grouped by category, each entry showing its version, size and upload date. Tick what you want and download it. Select multiple mods and use Download Selected, or Download All for everything currently visible after filtering.

If a mod lists requirements, you get them with their own compatibility verdicts before anything downloads, and you choose whether to take them, skip them, or skip the mod. Downloads go either through your browser, or as an nxm link handed to Vortex or Mod Organizer 2.

VERSION LISTS

The game version list is worked out at run time from public sources: the publisher's own Steam patch notes, the Steam branch list, the game versions Nexus records on collections, and the versions mod authors state on their own pages. Nothing is shipped inside the extension, so it is the same on any machine and it is not limited to a handful of games.

Being honest about this: for a game where nobody publicly states a version, there will be no list, and the extension says so plainly rather than inventing one. That is more common on small games than large ones, which is also where compatibility matters least.

THE API KEY

The key is optional. Browsing, filtering, choosing a target game and reading the version list all work without one. A key is what unlocks per-mod compatibility checks, file lists and downloads, because those are the parts that have to ask Nexus. You can paste one you generated yourself or use Nexus Single Sign-On.

Note that Nexus restricts API generated download links to Premium members. On a free account the extension falls back to the mod's own download page, and if that fails it tells you rather than pretending the download started.

PRIVACY

There is no Alkeari server. Nothing is sent to us because there is nowhere to send it. No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking. Your API key is stored on your machine and goes to exactly one place, which is Nexus, the service that issued it.
