Review summary
Commander Genius is a free emulator for classic Commander Keen DOS platformers, praised for nostalgia and gameplay that feels close to the original Windows version. Many users, however, report installation failures, the app not opening, and awkward touch controls that make jumping and menu navigation difficult. Others note the lack of gamepad or keyboard support and that only shareware episodes are included, with the full games needing to be obtained separately. Overall, reviews are mixed: fans of the originals enjoy it, but users hoping for smooth installation and controls are frustrated.
Pros
- Strong nostalgia factor for classic Commander Keen fans
- Gameplay is faithful to the original games and close to the Windows version
- Free to download
Cons
- Many users report installation failures or the app not opening
- Touch controls are awkward, especially jumping and menu navigation
- No gamepad or keyboard support, and touch controls can be hard to place
- Only shareware episodes are included, and the emulator has no full games

Getting resolution/aspect ratio that was correct was a pain and the touch screen overlay seemed to vanish on its own a lot for some reason requiring some resets. Actual Gameplay itself seems ok past that so I shouldnt this lower. But man, Menu Navigation is pretty clunky and frustrating. In the first game alone, trying to read anything in the INFO part of the title screen leads to getting stuck and having to restart the app as there's no touch screen menu buttons. Still, forgiven for being free
I have Magic DOSbox but still prefer this for Keen. Pretty much just as good as the Windows version. Had a bit of fuss getting my xbox controller working on it but that is probably the fault of my device.I have an Ayn Odin Pro and it tends to prefer the inbuilt controller. re:the guy giving it 1 star, "do better"; of course it only comes with the shareware ones. It's a 3rd party emu, they say it right there. They don't have distribution rights. It's easily obtainable still. 1-5 are on Steam.

l can't install the game but why??????
Great group of old EGA Apogee DOS platformers, all on your phone. It was a simpler, funner time to play platformers. Precision isn't a thing, exploring levels is. And shareware was our gaming lifeblood back then.
use to play this on computer when I was a kid it's called commander keen so good
worst game ever!!!!!!.... do not download the game guys because we can't open this game there will be one option of uninstall
Control placement sucks. The gun is directly above the jump and my thumb isn't 1cm long.
