User Reviews

Users praise Multi Split View for reliable 3–4 panel tab tiling and view of Edge-like split-screen. It’s considered a strong Firefox substitute and very useful. However, it’s not actively maintained and can clash with other extensions, sometimes requiring restarts or disabling others. Some pages break in single-tab mode, and it may apply a dark background to pages, necessitating workarounds.
Pros
  • Allows splitting a tab into multiple viewports (3–4) for tiled layouts.
  • Works very well and meets user expectations; described as reliable and effective.
  • Comparable to or better than Edge split-screen; popular Firefox substitute.
Cons
  • Not actively maintained / no longer being supported.
  • Conflicts with other extensions or plugins; can block communication between extensions.
  • May require restarts or re-enabling other extensions (e.g., uBlock) to function with merged tabs.
  • Single-tab mode can break some pages and complicate rendering in certain sites.
  • The extension applies a dark background to some pages, requiring workarounds like Stylish.

This extension is excellent although no longer being supported. I have split a single tab into 3, divided viewports. Perhaps you can do more? I did end up having to use the also-fine Stylish addon in order to override the dark background color this addon uses on pages which lack their own background color style. So thank goodness for that one as well.
