Have you tried to improve your finances in the past and failed?

1. The thought, "I must sort out my money".
2. Write out a budget or download a budgeting tool.
3. Make a list of income and outgoings.
4. Prove on paper how much will be left at the end of next month.
5. Get to the end of the following months, and not achieve the goals set out.
6. Start believing you are bad with money, and loose willpower to make improvements.

There are two main reasons why this system fails.

First, it is hard to remember all the outgoing expenses you might have.
If you forget a financial commitment for €200, then your savings goal will automatically be off by €200.
Secondly, there will be financial commitments that you cannot have predicted.
You might need to pay for a puncture repair for your car, or a good friend might ask you to drinks to celebrate good news.
Your spending is increased, and your savings goal is becoming more and more unreachable.
