Dear Sir/Madam at the Italian Embassy in Tehran,
My name is Maryam Valizadeh, holder of the passport numbered …, and I’m writing this letter to make an appeal to the decision made by that embassy regarding my application for a type-D visa. I believe that my application is not surveyed with full attention and accuracy. In what follows, I try to make the situation clearer.
I’m admitted to the master program “Urban Design for Transition” at the IUAV university at Venice. In addition, I’m pleased to say that I’m granted with a tuition waiver by the university.
In the letter submitted to me by the consulate section, it is written that my application does not meet the necessary requirements. The main reasons addressed there are the following:
1- I do not have the language proficiency required for this program.
2- My documents are not valid.
3- My application is conceived of with a high risk of immigration.
Now, IUAV as one of the most prestigious universities in art and architecture has clearly approved my scientific qualifications as well as my language proficiency for this program; as clearly reflected in my admission letter. Quite humbly, I would like to express my honor and deep pleasure to be admitted to such a university to pursue my academic career in one of the best places on earth to study architecture and its related fields, that is Italy.
As part of the university admission process, I recorded a video clip in English to express my motivations and goals for this program. This program is going to be delivered in English, and my academic IELTS score is 6.5. So, if this is not sufficient for the embassy to conclude that my language proficiency meets the requirements, I really don't know what could serve as an evidence for that?
That being said, I’m totally confident and ready to be engaged in an extra English interview, no matter virtual or in person.
The second reason above is very vague without indicating which document is specifically considered as invalid; given that every single document I have prepared was translated by officially confirmed translators, and the obligatory documents were in addition confirmed and stamped by the judicial and diplomatic authorities.
These include the ownership documents of my properties: A garden of around 2500 square meters in Tehran's countryside, and a half of a department of 116 square meters located in one of the best places in Tehran, i.e. SharAra.
Also, my official work certificate approves my "Senior" rank among the architectural engineers nationwide. Recall that the mentioned ranking contains four different levels which are the following in the ascending order: 3rd degree, 2nd degree, 1st degree, and the senior engineers. The better the rank the better the income and the higher the amount of projects one can be involved in.
I'm an active member of the management team of the company "Emertat". Once they learnt about my admission to this program they encouraged me to collaborate even more with them with an extra offer on salary after my return to my country.
Based on all these facts and quite sadly, as an independent woman I really feel a strong discrimination regarding my age, and my marital status of being divorced, more specially as woman.
Along with the mentioned professional and fiscal dependencies, I have strong emotional bonds as well. My parents are more-or-less in their old ages, my father is 74 years old and my mother is 68. I have two brothers, the older one lives in Isfahan with his wife, and the younger one in Germany with his wife and his lovely daughter. My parents are perfectly sound physically, both are still working, but emotionally they need someone being around. As far as I'm concerned, these emotions are reciprocal and I'm really glad to be around them as it has strong emotional gain for me as well. In recent years I had the opportunity to leave Tehran and to live in a place of a better climate, with less sound and air pollution, and even with a h
